Gruf - Hopeless Release date: April 11, 2005 Gruf is hopeless. He shows up late for recording sessions, and when he finally shows up he is unorganized. He forgets his lyrics at home. He writes hooks at the last minute. He works at his own speed and he sees the world in a different way. Gruf may be hopeless, but this is a good thing. He is poetic and insightful when he writes. He draws you in. He wont dumb it down and he wont compromise. Songs like Expand Horizon, Whiplash, Firewood, Process Assimilate defy convention and description - just sit back and enjoy the ride. Hopeless Romantic is a beautiful track featuring Grufs sister on the hook. Gruf is much more literal on tracks such as You Need to Relax and Off Time, the latter being an explanation about why he is always late. Butchers Bill is another Break Bread banger, with Pip Skid, John Smith and others pitching in. All tracks are produced by mcenroe, and he goes to town on the beats, crafting dense, dynamic backdrops for Grufs words. Also featured on the disc is another installment of the P&C Cribs series. This time we visit Grufs crib, and he shows us around and gets a little tipsy on the vino in the process! Order now in the P&C Store! Release sheet and press info here |
