mcenroe, also known as Rod Bailey, is a prolific Canadian hip hop musician, and entrepreneur. Musically, he a workaholic, who who takes the "do it yourself" ethic way too far. On Peanuts & Corn releases, he has been known to do everything from rhyming and writing, to photography and artwork, to writing ads, all while producing the lion's share of Peanuts & Corn's library of well over 30 releases. Founding Peanuts & Corn in Brandon, Manitoba in 1994 (though it is now based in Vancouver) as a part of the Farm Fresh collective, he has developed into one of the most prolific and respected hip hop producers in Canadian history, and elevated his label to the same plateau. John Smith manages to meld small town creativity (being from Churchill, Manitoba) and the inner city reality of hip-hop. The result is a broad fanbase for his solo work (2004's Pinky's Laundromat, 2001's Blunderbus) and group work (Hip-Hop Wieners, Park-Like Setting, Break Bread). Yy is the newest member of the Break Bread crew. He released "Hold The Fort Down" in 2003 on Peanuts & Corn and appeared on the Break Bread EP. He is also a member of Turn The Gun, a group with Winnipeg's The Gumshoe Strut. Members: mcenroe, John Smith, Yy |
